The first season of the LIVE FROM THE BEATBOX virtual performance series offers snapshots of Michael's research and development of The AURALVISUAL MIXTAPE Collection, Part III: (RHY)PISTEMOLOGY! (OR, TO KNOW THROUGH THE RHYTHM), the third portion of his triptych of evening-length tap dance pieces. Each livestream chronicles in-process ideas, rhythm and movement sketches, and artistic-intellectual explorations of music, melody, Black identity, legacy, and themes such as Black futurity.
Guest artists and collaborators include Yunina Barbour-Payne, Jamal Batts, Benae Beamon, Dominique Garrett-Scott, siri gurudev, Kaitlyn B. Jones, Sade M. Jones, Ari L. Monts, Adriana J. Ray, Taji Senior, and kt shorb.
Each livestream has been archived into its own Livestream Library. These libraries include short writings on themes, reference citations, notes, biographies and information on guests and collaborators, process drafts, livestream recordings, revised drafts, and credits. Access to these libraries and other LIVE From The BEATBOX content is limited but, you can learn more about S1 here.

The BEATBOX : Virtual Classes
Season One / November 2020-May 2021
Michael's "LIVE FROM THE BEATBOX" virtual class series includes workshops designed for teen and adult dancers (ages 12 and up) of varying levels.
While the intermediate/ advanced level workshops are intended for those with several years experience, advanced beginner and beginner workshops are more "open" in terms of level and are taught at the speed most appropriate for those in attendance. Classes are available on a drop-in basis.
